April 26, 2023

Syhunt Hybrid 7.0 released with Sandcat 7, security updates and AI features

Important: This update address the high-severity CVE-2023-2033 (Type confusion in Chromium's V8). Users are advised to immediately upgrade Syhunt to version 7.0 and upgrade Microsoft Edge to version 112.0.1722.48 or superior on Windows systems.

We're happy to release the 7.0 version of Syhunt Hybrid and Syhunt Community. The new release includes the 7.0 version of the Syhunt Sandcat browser, as well as report and AI related enhancements. The Sandcat browser, which Syhunt made open-source in 2014, is a Lua-powered browser and a key component of Syhunt and works as the graphical user interface of the product on Windows systems. Sandcat 7.0 now uses Microsoft Edge's engine, which is based on Chromium, instead of the Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF), and provides increased stability, speed and security since Edge's engine is updated together with Windows updates.

AI-Powered Features

Syhunt Hybrid 7.0 is the first application security scanner in the market to come with AI-powered capabilities, which include the ability to perform AI-powered login during DAST operations and produce examples of patched code alongside vulnerable code identified during a SAST operations.

A Critical Upgrade

This update is also a critical update that helps customers address the high-severity zero-day vulnerability (CVE-2023-2033), caused by a type confusion weakness in the Chrome V8 JavaScript engine, which affected all Chromium-based browsers, including Microsoft Edge and the Sandcat 6 browser. After updating Edge to version 112.0.1722.48 or superior, Sandcat 7 is not affected by the vulnerability anymore. Users are advised to immediately upgrade Syhunt to version 7.0 and Edge to version 112.0.1722.48 or superior.

"While over the years Syhunt Hybrid and other of its key components evolved significantly, since 2018 the Sandcat 6 browser just received a number of regular small enhancements and updates. Today, with the 7.0 release, this changes completely. This is a major overhaul of the web browser and one that makes it a formidable pentest and developer-oriented browser, but also safe against CVE-2023-2033 exploit", says Felipe Daragon, Chief Visionary Officer of Syhunt.
