About the Icy Division

Icy is a Syhunt division focused in external cyber threat intelligence that started in April 8, 2021 as a direct response to escalating ransomware incidents and several mega data leaks affecting millions of organizations and individuals around the globe. The Icy division is tasked with the mission of monitoring the surface, deep and dark layers of the web and updating the Syhunt Icy Dark tool.

The Icy division also partners with community contributors, including open source contributors, MVPs, strategic enterprise partners, key media organizations and experts beyond borders, on a mission to alert, advise and help safeguard nations from external cyber threats. Together, we aim to make a difference.

History

In January 2021, an unnamed task force between Syhunt, Jump2 (a key Syhunt solutions distributor and partner) and key media personnel assembled to analyze the biggest data leak of Brazil and responsibly inform the public about the dimension of the leak. Shortly after the publication of a series of articles by Estadão's Link section about the leak, the Brazilian Federal Police launched Operation Deepwater to investigate the case and arrested suspects linked to the leak. But the arrests alone unfortunately are not enough to address the problem. A robust, global response is needed with security researchers actively involved.

This work now continues through the Icy division, which plans to help coordinate a broader response to the latest cyber security challenges and threats through its partner network.
