Passwords Leak: 1.5 million email passwords from world governments

We analyzed in depth the biggest password leak in history, published in February on hacker community forums, and found that the leak exposed 1.5 million passwords associated with government emails from around the planet. On Sunday, April 25, Estadão exclusively anticipated the main findings of Syhunt's analysis as part of a cybersecurity special, and today, The Hacker News website published for the international community about our findings. Read below our paper and the published articles on the password leak.

April Leak: Data from 533 million Facebook users

We confirmed the data leakage of 533 million Facebook users from all over the world, which affected a total of 8 million Brazilians. On the same day, the social network confirmed the case. The successive mega-leaks and data leaks are being crossed and combined by hackers and cybercriminals, giving rise to huge databases of companies and individuals, which represents an unprecedented threat. From now on, such compiled databases tend to be actively exploited by the cybercrime.

March Leak: Data from 76 million Brazilian mobile phone accounts

In an article published today at the Estadão newspaper, which covers a new post by a hacker that offers even more data about Brazilians, we commented on the need for urgent and future actions by companies, governments and authorities to curb the constant data leaks. In the post, published by the cybercriminal on March 10 on the same forum where another hacker put information on millions of Brazilian CPFs and CNPJs numbers up for sale in January, the new hacker claims to have data from 76 million Brazilian mobile phone accounts.

February Mega Leak: Passwords of over 10 million Brazilians

Based on a new participation in an article by Estadão, we draw attention to the fact that a new mega leak exposed over 10 million Brazilian email passwords, passwords that were compiled and published by a hacker on the same forum where another hacker put information on millions of Brazilian CPFs and CNPJs numbers up for sale in January. The leak of the compilation of passwords was been extensively reported, however, our expert analysis was the first to reveal in detail how Brazilians were affected and what can be done to protect themselves.

February leak: Data from 12 million accounts, including credit card digits

At Estadão's newspaper request, we analyzed a new data leak with 12 million Brazilian CPFs and CNPJs, which also included credit card digits.

January Mega Leak: Data from 40 million companies and 223 million Brazilians

Based on participation in an article in the newspaper Estadão, we draw attention to the extent of the data leakage of 220 million Brazilians and 40 million companies, which was put for sale by a hacker on the Dark Web. Also in an analysis carried out in partnership with the newspaper, we highlight that some companies were more affected than others, because their data were not only cataloged and put for sale by cybercriminals, but also published as part of free samples on a surface Internet forum.

Thanks to the more than 8,000 Brazilian companies that contacted us after the initial article and requested more information about how they were exposed by the leak of corporate data on the Dark Web. While we await the steps of the Brazilian authorities, we continue to monitor the news and updates about the leak. Read our findings and analysis below.
